R.A.F. Jaguar GR.1A
The GR.1A is the British variant of the Jaguar attack aircraft. The R.A.F. arms this aircraft with 454
kg. bombs, BL.755 CBU's , CRV-7 19 rnd. rocket pods, and AIM-9L Sidewinders on OVER-wing
pylons. Defensive stores include the AN/ALQ-101(V)-10 ECM pod (which has been extensively
upgraded), and a Phimat chaff/flare pod. Internally, The ARI.18223 RWR combined with
additional chaff/flare dispensers give this aircraft a good ECM suite. The GR.1A can also carry a
RECCE pod under the centerline hardpont. The R.A.F. has recently equipped the Jaguar with the
TIALD laser designating pod and LGB's. Currently three squadrons of Jaguars are in service with
the R.A.F., all based at Coltishall,(52.44N 1.22E) in Norfolk. Used in the gulf war, and more
recently in operation Deny Flight over Bosnia, The Jaguar GR.1A will be replaced by the Eurofighter
in 1999.
