The MiG-23MLD is the final Fighter variant of the MiG-23 series.

New engines, Two additonal Medium Range Missle pylons and uprated avionics make this plane slightly better than a late Model F-4 PhantomII.

The Ferry Tank pylons on all previous MiG-23 series were fixed to the wing locking the wing at 16 Degrees of sweep. This pylon was replaced by a moveing pylon that could also support AA-7/AA-10/AA-12 missles.

Most MiG-23MLDs were updated in the early 90s to accept the AA-10 Missle family. A few were also updated to accept the AA-12 family. All can take the AA-11A (not the rear fireing AA-11) but none support the Helmet mounted sight.
